What to Expect During Your Check-Up & Clean

Comprehensive Dental Examination

Our experienced dentists will perform a thorough examination of your teeth, gums and mouth to identify any potential problems. This includes checking for cavities, gum disease, mouth cancer and other oral health issues.

Professional Cleaning with AIRFLOW®

We use the AIRFLOW® Dental Spa system for a comfortable cleaning experience. This innovative Swiss technology combines water, air and fine powder to effectively remove plaque and stains with minimal abrasion. Learn more about AIRFLOW.

Fluoride Treatment

After your clean, we apply a fluoride treatment to strengthen your teeth and help protect against future decay. Fluoride restores the enamel and forms a protective barrier against erosion from food, drink and bacteria.

Diagnostic Imaging

To get a full picture of your oral health, we may take X-rays and digital scans, which allow us to identify any hidden issues like decay between teeth, impacted wisdom teeth or bone loss. Intra-oral X-rays are recommended every 18 months.

Following your examination, we’ll create a personalised oral health care plan which provides tailored advice and recommendations for maintaining your oral health and improving your smile.

The Role of Fluoride

Fluoride protection after a dental clean is essential to help restore the outer layer of your teeth, which can become slightly softened after a professional cleaning. During a clean, plaque and tartar are removed, which exposes the enamel to potential wear. Fluoride strengthens the enamel by replacing essential minerals like calcium and phosphate, protecting the teeth against acid attacks from food, beverages and bacteria.

Intra-oral X-rays are taken to detect issues that may not be visible during a visual examination. They help identify early signs of decay, bone loss, infections and other dental concerns beneath the surface. By capturing detailed images of your teeth, roots and surrounding structures, X-rays allow for a more accurate diagnosis and proactive treatment, helping to prevent small problems from becoming more complex issues.
